Things to do in Daet Camarines Norte
1. Elevated Town Plaza
This is not anything great to look at but is something I’ve never seen before. An elevated town square. It’s concrete you can sit around in and talk or whatever.
2. Freedom Park
It’s a park area. Kind of like the Elevated Town Plaza but has grass and is not elevated. Funny thing is, it is across the road from the local jail. Did they call it Freedom Park to take the piss out of the inmates?
Quite an interesting little market. Comparable to the one in Naga.
4. Night Market
Down the road from the Miramar Tourist Inn Hotel is a bit of a food street. Nothing like the ones in China, but pretty good for the Philippines.
5. View the River
I chucked this one in here because, in comparison to the river in Naga, this is beautiful. I still wouldn’t drink out of it, or even swim in it for that matter. It shows the reduction of pollution in Daet in comparison to Naga, and you can tell by the smog levels also.
6. Bagasbas Beach
Bagasbas Beach Daet is a famous surfing beach. It is especially good for beginners. Also, it is not too crowded, even during the “busy times”. I ended up staying there for 10 or so days.
How to Get to Daet Camarines Norte
Daet has no airport, not a commercial one anyway. Naga (Pili) is the closest one. Once in Naga, you can catch a bus to Daet. It takes about three hours and costs 130PHP, but you can do it faster in a minivan. They had movies playing which was good.
If coming from Manilla you will be on the bus for 9+ hours.
